About the Song

Ever been in that place where you realize things just aren't going to work out with someone special? That feeling sparked "Different Directions." It's not just about that one relationship though; it got me thinking about how everyone in our lives – family, friends, you name it – are all kind of on their own paths, heading in different directions. Life just has this way of pulling us all in various ways, doesn't it?

This song is a bit of a look back at that feeling. It's about how life, love, and just plain chance can throw a wrench in even our best-laid plans and send us off on completely different journeys. It's that nostalgic feeling of seeing how things change, how people you were once super close to can end up moving in a direction you never saw coming.

"Different Directions" is really about those moments when you realize that diverging paths are just a part of the human experience. It touches on how we all navigate these changes in our relationships, accepting that growth sometimes means going separate ways. It's a song that hopefully makes you think about your own connections and the winding roads we all find ourselves on.

Post Title: Mission Statement

Published: January 8th, 2025

Why am I doing this? Why am I pursuing this path? Why am I continuing to devote time, energy, effort and resources to this dream that is statistically-speaking quite a long shot?

One word.

Passion.

I love it. If money was no longer an issue for me or my family, I’d make music.

In fact, I’d scream, finally! I get to do this forever!

I love it, pure and simple. Making music brings me alive. It lights me up. I can’t get enough of it. It runs like electricity through my veins. When I make music I feel a deep connection with myself. I retreat to a place close to my core.

It’s lived in me since I can remember; the love of song, the feeling of rhythm, the release of a great melody, the joy of harmonized voices, everything. It’s my place of complete fulfillment.

I realize some of us don’t know what that’s like. Often I hear, you’re lucky to have something you’re passionate about. I don’t have anything like that.

The truth is, they’re right.I don’t know what it’s like not to feel passionate about something. It saddens me that there are some still searching for that passion in life.

I felt my first taste of what music can do when I played at church.

During a Sunday service I got on the piano to perform a song during the communion prayer. It was called Power of Love, a haunting and beautiful melody that gives you shivers. As I played it, crying broke out in the audience. Many told me with tears in their eyes how moving my performance was. It stunned me to see it had affected so many, so deeply.

Music is healing for both the musician and the audience. We heal from each other. The musician needs to play, but without an audience who would they play to? The audience hears us. They listen. They enjoy. They connect. They encourage. They applaud. The audience gives us what we so desperately crave as artists, acceptance. Artists, through our crazy expressions, provide acceptance for the audience.

We let you know you aren’t crazy.

Thus, we arrive at the mission. What is it all for? Why do I continue this endless charade?

I pursue music with purpose and determination so that another might pick up their own pursuit, and chase it with all the strength they can muster, that they too might live with passion and fulfillment.

Who knows, perhaps that person will be you.

Perhaps you will finally do that crazy thing you’ve been thinking about in the back of your head. Maybe you’ll ignite a spark in another. Maybe the fire will spread.

One day, perhaps we might all be watching each other pursuing that which brings us most alive, to the best of our ability, for the enjoyment of all.

What a world that might be. All artists accepted.

Won’t you join me?

If music be the food of love, play on
